Would it be possible to buy Keyword rich domains and then turn around and sell them?

    if you find a good one, go for it! but careful of too specific EMDs - they are not worth much now.

    if you have 2 keyword domain which gets good exact search traffic - if you can find that still snatch em up - though obscure tlds wont give you much return.

    if you want to invest in domains - another route is to come up with tons of possible good brandnames for things and buy those - someone might be interested in them someday down the line - and aged domains are also valuable

        If all you want to do is sell then you can do anything. you can easily turn an EMD into an MFA site and sell it, if people are willing to buy. which in return would destroy your reputation coz that EMD is not going to survive for a long time.

        i wouldn't suggest that tho. i'd always suggest you to go for a brandable domain. however it could be profitable if you could come out with a website on that EMD and sell it for few quick bucks. but you never know how long it takes for google to kick you in the nuts. that EMD might survive a few months or could be gone next week.

            The recent google update that saw EMDs lose their ranking in the SERP is enough proof that google does not want poor EMDs to rank in the first page.

            EMD = Exact Match Domain(for keyword "how to get rid of acne", an EMD would be hxxp://www.howtogetridofacne.net or could be with any other TLD.)

            MFA = Made For Adsense(these are basically poor sites made just to earn from adsense.) and google hates them.

    EMD update has something in stores for you if you go for keyword rich domains.It may be possible that you don't get hit with the update effect but next update is going to hit hard to the rest keyword rich domains.

    Hi Peter,

    If you're interested to "invest" and sell domain names my best advise to you is find short and weird but brand-able domain names.. (for instance: kajabi.com, leogle.com, JFinale.com etc), keep them as long as possible and sell them 2 - 3 years down the road for perhaps $100 - $200.. People these days are more interested in brand-able domain names rather than "Exact Match" due to G's latest update: EMD.. And I think this will be a greater return on your investment than most bluechip stocks or 401k

    Assuming you're buying a domain for $10, 3 years payment will be $30. Sell them for $120, you profit $90.. minus off listing fees, transaction fee etc.. you'll still net at least $60. That's 100% return on your investment over a 3 year period my friend.

    Sorry if this doesn't make sense, this idea somehow cross my mind after reading through this thread.

      The only thing I'm worried about is buying a domain and it not be a good one. I'm not sure how to determine what a branded name domain is.

    If you already have some domains, you should try to sell them while you still can. Based on the recent updates from Google, you might have problems with them in the next few years, but who knows what will happen after that.

    You know what? I think I'm going to do it, I'm gonna invest maybe $900 in 30 domains over 3 years period.

    I think this is a low risk idea, as most of us know, domains are getting lesser and lesser each day.. Who knows, maybe 2 - 3 years down the road.. the cost per domain might increase up to $15 - $20.

    Call me retarded but going to try it anyway
