Hi warriors,

From last couple of days my CPC is dropped to $0.44 a click to $0.13 a click. I can't find the specific reason for that. Is there anyone who can help me to overcome from this issue.

hard to say but it could be quality of traffic...
if there are few conversions via your displayed ads and the traffic you send then rates may fall

Quality of traffic, advertisers dropping the keyword, market fluctuations, Google's bad hair day....there's a million reasons CPC's can fluctuate wildly from one day to the next.

Thanks for this reply friend. It would be better if I know the exact reason. But that is impossible to know because Google won't tell me that.

      Am I right ???

Correct. Google is not going to fill you in with the details.

But if you want to know a little bit about the past history of the keyword CPC, # of advertisers, ad copies, etc... in your favorite search engine type in "spyfu" and type your keyword in their search. They provide some awesome metrics for free.

You can't find exact reasons for this, its really hard to tell - depends on alot of factors. Just keep doing what you are and hopefully your CPC would go up in no time!

Did you - by any chance - add a new ad block to your pages? Most of the times, the ads at the lower blocks tend to have much lower CPC than those at the first block.

If you have more than one block, you can also try and temporarily remove the 2nd and 3rd blocks and see if the CPC increases (watching the CTR at the same time of course).

If none of these apply, then it can simply be advertisers paying less for some reason.

    1. Have you checked on Google lately to know your present keyword bidding.
    2. Are you ranking for the exact keywords you are using it's bids?

Usually means the traffic being generated by those keywords isn't converting so advertisers are going elsewhere or stopping all together, which in turn is lowering the value of the keyword. You need to improve your page so that it converts the traffic better for those people you are displaying ads for.

Basically, Welcome to 13 cents a click land please keep your head and arms inside the vehicle at all times.

    " CPC changes
    • CPCs are determined by advertiser bids and are not directly under publisher control. To optimize their ad campaigns, advertisers often experiment with different keywords and ads, and also change the sites they choose to target based on past performance. Advertisers can choose to target specific sites by time of day, and may shift budgets based on their specific advertising goals. In addition, seasonality can affect bids - for instance, retail advertisers may increase their bids during specific times of the year when their sales tend to increase. We recommend learning how the ad auction works, and how these types of changes can impact your earnings.
    • Since not all ads are priced the same, the ads your users choose to click will impact how much you earn. Using URL and custom channels, you can better understand which ad units your users are clicking on most frequently.
    • You can always improve your CPCs by choosing ad formats that support all ad types: text, image, video, flash, and gadget ads. More competition means higher advertiser bids. "
