SEO - help a newbie, friends!

Hi all,

so basically I got a lot of questions related to seo.

(1) How many keywords should an e-commerce web store work on per month?

(2)So If I have 10 Keywords, should I work on all of them together or use variation 5 one month other 5 next month and so on.
Plus these keywords are not for same URL, say 5 for main Url -- 3 for internal Url one and other for internal URL 2.

(3)How much should one invest(money) in SEO per month?
----How should I negotiate with my SEO company -- interms of keywords that have high search volume and keywords that have low search volume?

any help would be appreciated!

    Your asking questions that don't have a single answer. It depends on the needs of your site.

    Don't target keywords target customers. There is no set number of keywords. The answer, you start with one. Then two. Work on ranking for just a few, and then branch out. Create new pages for new keywords. One way you will find them is by looking at the incoming search queries for your traffic.

    Also create pages with zero SEO optimization solely for the customer. Just fluff content to help sweeten the pot.

    For my main site I am tracking around 30 keywords, I started worrying about maybe 3-5 and then to my surprise found out my pages were ranking for keywords entirely unrelated to the one I was actually optimizing for. Often times a good page will rank for multiple keywords.

    As for how much to invest I would never invest in SEO personally because I do it myself. For me learning to do SEO was the only option rather than relying on someone's service to help bolster my livelihood.
