If I created a series of articles to my blog from my main site:

www.mainsite.com/blog

Will the main site see an increase in rank for the main keyword?

Thanks guys

Most times yes, depends how you do your linking though.

  • Most probably yes if you are doing proper internal linking to your main site from your blog. Umm... I think that's what you are asking.

Basically, creating more articles is a good way to help increase your rank for your main keyword. Firstly, because you have more content and pages on your site. Well, assuming that you are good, quality related content of course. And secondly, because you can leverage that content for better internal linking opportunities.

    Hope that helps.

Just be sure to use the appropriate anchor text and linking to your site. Don't use the blog url for your linking instead use your target URL which is the main page. Adding unique and high quality articles on your blog page could really help in your rankings since you are adding freshness to your site which Google loves.

Of course, but it takes time and dedication.
The content itself won't rank, but backlinking to that content will help a lot.

Yes, just do proper internal linking! Make sure that you do variations also in internal linking like making your anchortext descriptive.

  • Yes,

But, you may consider adding backlinks to your backlinks as well for an extra boost. That works really well.

Well I have the articles being spread naturally by people, so I guess that is what feeds to the main site.

Thanks for the help everyone! Sorted out some of my internal links!

Your site is not going to increase ranking solely by adding more content to your site. Of course there are many variables that MIGHT make this possible, like if your content was of the viral nature and good enough for others to link to you. Links are the primary factor in pushing your site up the rankings. So while it is good to always be adding fresh content, it alone will not help in increasing your ranking for your main keyword.
