301 Redirect Incoming Tag Links Only? SEO?

Hey all,

I started out a wordpress site using tags and have thousands of them... I have quite a few existing backlinks to my tag pages.

I'd like to keep any incoming juice for those, but thought I would 301 redirect all incoming links to one particular page on my site to consolidate the link-juice. Is this even the right way of thinking here?

I think I'd have to update my .htaccess file, but not sure how... Can you make a wildcard entry so all tag pages get redirected?

    If you are trying to increase the PageRank of one page on your site by redirecting other pages, this will not have the effect you want. The one page you have all URL’s pointing too will not have its PageRank increased and you will also create a poor user experience for visitors to your site.

    If you want to increase the PageRank for a specific page, just focus on building links for that particular page instead of others. If, however, you do plan to do this; modifying .htaccess is a good way or you could also place a tag in the header of the pages you want to redirect. Your .htaccess file should be installed on the root of your domain.
