Donating to an open source PR6+ site/project to increase your PR and SERPS

Has anyone heard of a strategy where you donate to a open source project PR6+ (usually $20-$100 one time donation) in exchange for a 1 way PR 6+ backlink with your anchor text of choice and URL?

I just donated to 2 PR6 Open Source Projects. 2-1 way PR 6 permalinks for $120.00 - Seems like a good value.

If I have successful results, I plan to execute this strategy with more open source projects, .edu, .gov and non profit organizations...

Has anyone else tested this strategy yet? What were your results/feedback?

    $20 seems too affordable for a PR6+ links, if you have such good offer, please send the details to me as well.

    What is the agreement like, will they permanently put your link there?

    Is there a place where I can find all these open source projects or do I have to look for them one by one manually? Is there a specific term to describe this kind of link building?
