Use Bing and forget Google... Mmm say goodbye to your income on line then!

Check out why, no matter how much MS put into BingBong it will never be what they thought it would be...

Even though some people hate it, most still use Google!

Yes, move to Bing so the OP will have less competition on Google. Sneaky, I like it!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7208682].message }}
  • Well, it's actually a good move on Google's part for people who sell digital products online. There'll be less traffic going to pirate sites and downloading illegal copies.

However, you're right. I guess people will just move to using Bing and continue doing the same...

Maybe not! When I first started SEO I had 2 similar sites - same products but different write ups. One was optimised for Bing and one for Google. The one optimised for Bing done better in the Google serps. With people all trying to beat Google maybe they are over optimising for it hence some of the penalties. Maybe by optimising for Google you could be doing more harm than good. The truth is Bing traffic doesn't convert anywhere near as good as Google traffic though.

That just means your site's ranking in Google are lower than they were before. It is not an indication of more people using Bing.

And how exactly do you optimize for Bing versus Google?

I spent 0 time concerned with Bing however for every major keyword that I am ranked with Google, I am also ranked #1 with Bing. Bing is a lot slower indexing them Google and does not index nearly the amount of pages/keywords as well.

But even still.. lets for a moment forget all of that. The majority of organic search traffic comes from Google by a wide margin, so to forget that is about the same as not accepting US Dollars in a store located in Texas. Sure you will still get some pesos but you just lost most of your potential business.

I've always used a tool called IBP which takes the top 10 ranking pages one any search engine and compares the factors (on and off page) to your own site for your chosen keyword.

They give a score out of 100%. If you get 100% they guarantee page on rankings for you search term. Not as easy as it sounds though because two of the factors are Alexa ranking and domain age.

I'm not saying put all your hop in Bing - HELL NO - you would be out of business in no time. What I'm saying is that everyones trying all the tricks to beat Google and they know about it. Maybe if you aimed to get to the top of Bing then some of your SEO techniques may be different and would go under the Google radar. You might just sneak up the Google serps as a result. Ok maybe I'm talking out my a**e again but who knows!

That link is old. I guess you have have been using Bing, (Touche!)

That also has nothing to do with what you think it means.
The mania here died down quick. It's for people who abuse
            copyrights on movies, music, etc.

And if you think Bing doesn't do the same thing, you are
            sadly mistaken.

If you continue to steal movies and music, and make it easy for
people to do so, you deserve to get deindexed. Period.

If you don't do any of that, you have no worries.

The whole premise of this thread is kinda lame. It has nothing
to do with using Bing or Google. Nothing.

If you don't like google results, use bing. That's always been
out there. A very minor algo change like that is meaningless
to the title of this thread, "use Bing and forget google."

Bing is a hundred times better than MSN and its search results are now just as relevant as Google's. Inertia is keeping a lot of people glued to G. If their searches become full of irrelevant results because of G's Crusade against the SEO community then their short term profits may increase but at the expense of their loyal users

Bing places a higher priority on search terms than on backlinks (So websites that trade backlinks will show up lower on the list in favor of what matches what you searched)

Also, its a good idea to use all the search engines, and delete all the cookies from them when you close the browser (Also use TOR to anonymize IP) simply because an all-powerfull company (Google for example) knows more about you right now than anyone else on the planet, by what you have googled.

  • Optimize for Google and in two to three months you will be high in Bing and Yahoo as well so there is only one way the Google way. Bing and Yahoo are though can easily be manipulated via spam links and over-optimized content so if you optimize for htese two you will be dis-optimized for Google. So follow the king and the two princes will follow.

I'm not sure about that Toyota Hilux,
Because i'm doing really good / amazing in Bing/Yahoo and terrible at Google (Penguin case)

Perhaps, if deoptimize my site to fit in Googles rules (using disavow or whatever) I guess I will lose my kingdom at Yahoo/Bing.
