A friend suggested not to change the template of my blog, because he says that if I change the template may affect my ranking in google.
That's true?

I want to change it for purposes of better CTR.

My advice would be: "Stop thinking about what google would think about, get worry what your visitors would think about" so change your template to suit your visitor needs. After all, that is what google pursue.

If you are currently ranking for some kw and you make onpage edits, like change your template, you can expect to see some fluctuations in your ranks. This will affect bounce rates, which can offset a number of other signals sending you into a tailspin. But if your template is better and more optimized, you can hope to expect improvements in your ranks.

Don't worry about what Google will think - do what you think/feel is best for the long term viability of your site and for your visitors.

You can change your template, but don't change existing urls and On Page Optimization techniques.

Plus don't use any ad on top of the page, as it could hurt your ranking. Instead display your ads at middle or bottom of the page.

    Good Luck!!!

It may hurt you a little bit, but if the template increases conversions heck yes I would change it. Think of your return in the long run instead of what you have now.

You can change your template but create a unique and user friendly template. "Create template for users not for search engines "

Yes, that an website loading speed. As long as it doesn't slow your website down more than what it was, you should be fine.
