each one does the job - page/post title tags and meta tags and keywords!

SEO is not web development, which would work by a plug in.

You have to work hard to optimize your site to get a better ranking in search engine.

However you can use, All in one SEO pack for Wordpress in order to incorporate the Page title, Meta Description and keywords.

Yoast is the best, it has all the features you would ever need including:

Can get SEO ranking as you create a post by keyword
you can disable categories, archive, tags etc from been indexed
you can easily put a noindex tag on any page or post, good for ones like privacy statements etc
it has a much better sitemap generator than any sitemap plugin with options to turn off tags etc
well i'm just touching on the things that come to mind. I have been reverting all my ALL IN ONE blogs to it and it actually had an importer as well for ALL in one so you get to keep your data from that... Maybe I should start selling it since I love it but its FREE lol...

I consider Wordpress SEO by Yoast to be the top one in my list. The next one would be platinum SEO. For basic SEO development, All in One SEO pack is still the best.

SEOPressor for a paid option is excellent. If you look around a bit you can get a discount (about $20 from memory). If you don't want to part with your cash then the other free options are great also.

Ah okay, I didnt realise this thread was about free plugins, i thought the question was which is the best seo on page plugin, honestly thats something id like to know, paid and free all alike, which one rules em all and why?

i have only used ALL IN ONE SEO. It's very user friendly. I think it works especially if you know how you'd use it - like entering the keywords that should be there.

anyhow, I wonder, is it okay to mix all seo plugins in a site? I mean, won't you be over optimizing in that case?

You can fine many plugins listed by fellow members but make sure you do not confuse yourself with too many plugins. It creates problems later on and site speed decreases. So use only one plug in for SEO purpose at a time.

Magnificient - I originally wrote a 435 word response to your question and I know it seems I am new to the forum but I am not - just relaunched my brand and that means everything, including my Warrior profile, had to be re-branded.

I thought better of my response because based on the truth I put forth, there is little doubt someone would've reported the comment as 'libel ridden' for EVERY plugin mentioned here. However, I place sites in #1-#3 positions regularly in the most competitive keyword markets on the Internet. In 8 weeks from the time of this post, I will hold the #1 position in a 'shark tank' keyword market - Internet Marketing.

It is by that expertise I suggest this - before buying any of these plugins, it is critical that you understand their limitations versus manual SEO efforts. Nothing is more critical to your business than establishing a flawless SEO 'bread crumb trail' onsite. Your goal must be to place your homepage as well as 6 in every 10 blog posts you write, into the #1-#7 positions within your keyword market.

One of these (plugin versus manual) can get this done (thus large amounts of traffic) and the other, especially in high converting keyword markets that generate profits, can't. Enough said. If either the plugin's creator, no matter how well known or THEIR affiliates make claims which excite you, step back and ask them for one simple thing - screenshots of high search engine positions they've achieved using the plugin.

When I say SEO Plugins, I mean those which are well-known and cost money! If your 'bread crumb' trail is right, an XML site map plugin (free) is all you need. Truthfully, even an XML site map is unnecessary if you simply go to a ping site or socially bookmark when the site is prepared.
