Having An SEO Dilemma

I've made a few threads asking for someone to help me with SEO. I got a few people interested and we talked over skype, email etc but eventually they all stopped replying.

I was offering a 50/50 split JV but I'm not making any money with the site atm. That's probably what made they stop replying. They didn't want to work for free i guess.

But here's the dilemma...

I can't do SEO. I could try to learn it but I've also been told by other marketers that SEO is extremely hard to learn because of ever-changing updates. Also I don't have money for any SEO tools.

So either I try and blindly learn SEO(don't exactly know where to look for a UP TO DATE definitive guide or I get someone that is willing to help me for free or a 50/50 JV as I can't pay for services.

I feel like I read too much, and don't actually take action.

And most blogs don't go into enough detail past the basics.

That is not true my friend.

My blog alone I teach everything from backlinks to on page factors to advanced tier'd linking and adsense niche sites.

        Others do as well.

You just have to pursue it like your life depends on it. Your websites life certainly does.

First things first.. Being an SEO Expert is easy.. just put it in your signature like the rest do and you will be covered.

    Back to reality:
No one fully understands it because Google does not release detailed enough information on how things work however people are quite well versed in because they experiment, read forum threads, ask direction questions, research on google for different things and topics but at the end of the day you have to be doing it to learn it.

Time to pull up those big boy pants and get to work.

  • Michael Foze,

I can sympathize with your situation. Its tough to get services you need when you are short on funds. That being said, it may be difficult to find someone to work for you for free with the promise of payment later on down the road, especially in a virtual world. SEO is not that difficult to learn however it is a tedious practice that requires constant attention. This is perhaps why those you were working with stopped contacting you. I would try and learn some basics about the practice (these are things that haven’t changed in a number of years like targeting keywords and including them in copy).

Keep up to date on industry news by reading the blogs and following the social media accounts of industry leaders. SEOMoz is a good one along with @randfish – Rand Fishkin the organization’s founder. Another good resource is SearchEngineLand.com and you could follow @DannySullivan – Danny Sullivan, the website’s Editor. Matt Cutts -- @mattcutts who is head of the webspam team at Google is another great resource.

Once you have a firm footing in white hat SEO, you should also learn about black hat tactics. Although some may not agree, you should avoid using these as they are not effective for long term success but knowing what they are will help you understand what is happening in the industry and help you avoid using them.

Here are some additional resources to get you started.

learning it is in your best interest, plenty of posts and articles on here,
and guides you can download, sign up for email lists!

you might be in the wrong business if you dont wan to spend anything on marketing, people can do JV splits, but if that means 1 person taking over your site so that yo ucan make money its not a tasty offer. Why would a professional want to spend time making you money when they have clients who pay them to do just that?

I would suggest finding some funds to invest into your own business.
