Is a short domain better than a longer targeted one ?

Hi guys, if i specialise in alarm installation and have the choice of for example
Okalarms.com or okalarminstallation.com which should i go for , I only want to buy one !

From my quick research it looks like equivalent short domains are doing good too !

..or should i go for okalarmquotes.com as its more of a buying phrase ??

    To be fair, since the Google updates, I don't think it really matters any more. It all depends on the quality of your site. You could make either work for you, so it's down to which you prefer.

    Considering branding elements , I would say okalarms.com is way better than okalarmsinstallation.com

    The longer domain would be better, because you can easily rank for the WHOLE phrase using it. Then you can also target your website for a PART of the phrase (a little harder)...

    If you choose the shorter domain, it would be almost VERY HARD to make your website on 1st page in search engines for your long keyword (*of course it depends on the competition, but I am talking about a VERY BIG competition keywords!)

      No. There we go again, with the mentality of ranking mini niche sites, or just the purpose of "ranking". Focus building on an authority site. Who gives a s*@#$ if you can't rank your main domain. What are you going to do? Build 2395832895235 sites each one with one page only that you're trying to rank?
      Eff that.

      I rather build one site, and build multiple pages multiple SERPS based on your niche.

      Forget this whole "long phrase" site crap.

      "Hey all, I have a site called http://www.makemoneyonlinequicklyandefficiently.com it's very professional."

      Yeah - I'd take that website seriously.

    I presume you are going to use it offline? Think about how easy to say on the Phone. Go for the short version... and build your longer keyword into your title tags....

    I would buy the 2 of them. Then choose what's best for you to do SEO, then redirect the other one.

    domains names do not have a significant value anymore,they are important in that they should be easy to remember.what matters the most is the content and the title tag which I think is the most important seo consideration.
