Seems like article submission sites like Squidoo, Ezine, Hub etc aren't as useful as they once were.

What works for you?

If you are looking to build a longer term brand and build authority in a niche you need to EARN back links.

Content has been (and always will be) the foundation of building solid traffic, visitors and links. There are multiple ways to do this and create traffic quickly and EARN back links. I launched a WSO addressing these techniques.

A couple of secrets from my WSO - create excellent consumable content in your niche or have someone write it for you (textbrokers.com or others). I recently had an article written for me. Once I received it I had to re-write sections but it gave me a starting point and it took a lot less time (maybe 15 minutes). I posted it to Social media news, strategy, tools, and techniques | Social Media Today (it doesn't cost anything to post here and anyone who has solid content can get an article published.) - here it is - http://socialmediatoday.com/mark-kit...-new-moneyball

Check out the share rate on it - literally hundreds of shares on several social networks. In my profile I have a link to my social profiles and my website. I received hundreds of visitors - the article was on my site as well and I received several natural back links to it - as well as some of my other posts on my blog. What did all of this cost me? $8.00 for the article and 15 minutes of time.

So that's one quick easy strategy for you....enjoy

Tier 3 ---> Tier 2 ---> Tier 1 ----> Money site. Squidoo and other sites still have their place as Tier 1 and Tier 2.

I agree with intergen. Quality backlinks are earned not given. How do I get quality backlinks you ask? Well, article writing, blog posting, press releases, just like everyone else. Its important to write quality content. If you just spam the web you may get some good links here and there but you dont get traffic. So why not put in a little more time and get some good traffic WHILE you get good links.

Makes the most sense to me at least.

A question, does stuff like PADgen still works? You make an application for an article and get a lot of backlinks.. It should work very good for Youtube. Any ideas?

Squidoo is not an article submission site. The same things
that worked in 2011, work in 2012, and will work in 2013.
Hub, EZ, work just fine, if done right, as always.

Links that you control, in content, are the best.

I think, Social Media is a single of the strongest sources of backlinks ever. Social Media is a way for you to make near relationships with your visitors.

Right here you can get close to the folks who are intrigued in your area of interest and at the identical time you can get extra relations since social media is emphasized much more on generating connections. If you make quality and relevant links for your work then its all risk free like happy link building.

    To answer the OP.

Me and Mike (above) were actually just discussing high pr blog networks in another thread. You may want to check that out, he posted some very good info and I for one am extremely interested in trying his method out.

Apparently blog networks (done the right way) and killing it still for him.

High pagerank links have been and always will be my favorite.

Its the kind of links that Google simply cannot stop without manual action and why they try and crack down on them so often. Its why you see newspaper articles about websites buying links and dominating the rankgins.

Are they risky? Yes if you are greedy. But if you use them strategically you can dominate the search engines.

They are doing fine, but I wouldn't refer to my sites as part of a blog network. They are real sites. They are not the typical garbage you see with the junk networks like SEO Link Monster and ALN.

When people hear blog network, those are the sites they think of. Mine are niche specific. If you saw one, you wouldn't know it was part of any kind of network. They are viable sites on their own.

So in essence they are what is considered a Prime Network of sites. As in all quality with content and juicy backlinks flowing to them. Right?

I agree with that. Blog networks work well if done right. My partner in Malaysia is currently running his own blogs. When you visit those websites, you will not think that they are a part of a network.

They actually provide good information and get lots of visits.
