How Did Google's Penguin Update Affect Your Website's Ranking?

In an effort to provide searchers the most helpful search results, Google has continued to refine their search algorithm.


Their most recent update, affectionately named "Penguin," was launched shortly after Memorial Day. Penguin updates are expected to continue through the end of 2012, and are geared toward dramatically improving quality, relevancy, and cleanliness of the search result by penalizing overly spammy pages or those with spam-like links. Sites that violate Google's quality guidelines have also likely been hit by this newest update to Google's constantly changing algorithm.

    Google's latest penguin update had a created a huge impact on seo industry. Hundreds or even thousands of people lost their job, a lot of seo professional had started gone crazy about their serp rankings.

    All that I can suggest, is that always create very good and high quality content. As well as get backlinks from authority sites with the same niche.

    It removed tons of crappy sites out of the SERPs and made it easier to rank

      This penguin update initially lowered rankings that related to our URL's keyword. However, it bounced right back up a few days later and has been consistently the same before the update ever since. I think the penguin update just made it so people that create websites with no SEO that rank high, no longer rank high.

    Hi,

    The latest updates is a bad news to link builder/SEO if there focus only is on traditional link building like social bookmarkings, directory submissions, using spun contents and etc. However, it's a good news to PRO that are using quality link building like guest posting, content marketing and the like.
