Will doing a redirect whie my forum is under construction affect my SEO rankings?

My website's link is http://advertisehotspot.info/ It is currently under progress for a major revamp including a new website design. So time being, I have force redirect when people visit http://advertisehotspot.info/ they will automatically be redirected to my site's "under construction" page. It will be like this for about a month until we are ready for the relaunch. Will doing this affect my SEO in any way or my page rankings? If so, what can I do to avoid it?

    As long as you aren’t breaking links you should be fine. Two things: How are you redirecting users? Do you have a regular expression that redirects any URL to the construction page or are you just redirecting the home page. For instance if you are redirecting advertisehotspot.info/ but advertisehotspot.info/about-us does not get redirected and is a broken link, this could eventually effect your SEO; especially for the time period you are talking about.

    Another thing that came to mind is why are you leaving the site down for so long? Why not leave the old site up during your redesign and then only have a short period of down time. This would make the transition more seamless for your users.

    Just a reminder never use a 301 redirect, 302 will do for this purpose.
