Is there life after Panda/Penguin?

My local roofing site took a dive from position 6 in Google Places to number 22. I noticed the change around October 17th or so. I do know that my site has way too many links with anchor text for the keyword and links with domain name.. Has anyone sucessfully revived their site after something like this? Does PR matter when using generic anchor text like "click here" "see website"?

I am hoping that by adding some additional quality articles to the site, sending generic anchor text links and linking to the inner pages I can come back soon.

I hope you have diagnosed the problem and you are in right track to get the ranking back.

You didn't drop very far so I don't think its a penalty...

Just keep building links and you should go back up. I tend to stay away from "Click Here" and I usually just put my brand name in there and tons of naked URLs

When you say naked urls do you mean simply using the url of my home page or some inner page like: http://mywebsite.com or http://mywebsite.com/somepage?

I also forgot to mention I am using local pages ninja plugin. This plugin creates duplicates pages for other cities in the county my roofer serves. One thing is for sure is that I have 67% target anchor text (keyword), 33% brand (my company) and 0% generic.

Diversity backlink types and also anchor texts.

You can use the generic anchor texts as part of the variety of anchor texts, but not need much.

Don't forget to diagnose SEO on page of your site also.

If your site is old, check that you don't have a duplicate content penalty. I'm absolutely certain that's what killed my sites.

I'm now rebuilding, making sure my content is unique, or using DMCA to take down duplicates (this is proving highly successful at combating the Indian content thieves).

If you want to boost your local listing then according to me you can try citation websites as citation website helps a lot in getting backlinks and ranking but make sure you are using the same name, address and phone number as you are using in the Google local listing.

Yup, all these things are ok and don't forget to try to get back-links from some high PR sites.
