I would like to ask a question about getting a good page rank for subdomains. I want to create some simple one page landing pages for small businesses to be hosted on my own domain. It would be something like www.mydomain.com/business. Is a good ranking even possible with this type system? Because I'm sure the first question I'll be asked is "how will customers find me?

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Wisln

Yeah that's not abnormal at all!

    That's an authority site model.

You have one large website that's branded instead of 20 Exact Match Domains

Much better long term decision on your part

That's not a subdomain. I imagine the there are some basic things
to learn before, well, what else can I say?

How is that not a subdomain? I dont get it. Side note-increasing the strength of a subdomain increases the actual domain as well. Great business model because you can rank your website off the subdomains.

Ha correct, overlooked that. Better to create subdomain.website.com then additional landing pages-website.com/landingpage

I think it is a subdomain. I know you can call it a page but I think the OP created it as a subdomain.

A subdomain is business.mydomain.com, compared to mydomain.com/business which is a subdirectory.

For search purposes, subdomains are considered separate sites and seo value does not transfer well between them, subdirectories however build upon the main domain and can help to strengthen for seo purposes.

Thanks for the input, yes, my example above should have been called a sub-directory and I could structure my main domain either way. Sub-domain first in front of main domain or use the sub-directory structure.

Already I see a disagreement on which structure would be best for SEO purposes.

They will be both treated exactly the same by Search engines so the choice is yours.
I would personally lean toward directories as there is more chance that users will click through to the main site also.

So far, I know things like something.mydomain.com can be a example of subdomain. Now I came to know that the pages also can be called as subdomain also. So, I would like get a verification of this information from some experts.
