Is PR sculpting real or a myth?

Some people say that nofollow links not only do not pass the link juice, but also lessen the amount of link juice passed by other links on the page, and hence are useless.
I haven't heard any recent thoughts about it, but the whole idea does sound a bit bizarre to stick for long with all these google algorithms. What do you guys think?

I'm also using lots of links in my site in the footer for the simplicity of navigation and a part of design, but what happens now is that all my pages got PR3, even including the Homepage, and even the forums' main page.
I would like to ask for advice, could it benefit my site if I make them nofollow, or at least half of them?

Supposedly it was possible to sculpt with nofollow. But then Google came out and said they had turned that off ages ago while some SEOs, including Rand Fiskin, were jumping up and down saying that it works.

My advice ? Do not ever nofollow your internal links.

Sculpting or channeling your PR is possible though -- by simply managing and choosing which links you place on your page.

Thanks for a great advice. I also wonder though, can the excessive site links suck off the page rank of the home page? I think I've got a clear, relevant pr6 link to my homepage, but it's still pr3. Could the excessive linking be the reason?

Your homepage has 87 links. It's less than 100, but the footer links seem repetitive. You already have alot of them in the nav menu.

I know, the problem though is that the menu really shows only one link per main category until you hover it. Which means, the subpages do not get any direct links, but from the footer.

I might be willing to try hiding them altogether, but then the design would look kinda dull without them.

Would this work, if I simply replace them with spans, and make them navigate to the destination pages through the javascript? Would these also count as links, or could we safely exploit it that way?

You cant really "sculpt pr" by making certain pages nofollow/dofollow links... apparently nofollow link juice just "evaporates" so you might as well dofollow all of your internal links.

It is however smart to implement a good internal linking structure and have all of your pages just a few clicks away from a root page.

No follow links dont dilute follow links-doesnt make any sense. Look at it this way, google can still see no follow links, and they still have some strength. However, not nearly as much as a follow link.
