The real purpose of this post is to discuss what is making my competition's web sites so successful:
http://www.fuel-pumps.net/
Alex ranking: 1,357,000
http://www.racing-seats-usa.com/index.html
Alexa ranking: 537,500
Despite having better domains in both categories, the other web sites do significantly better. My desire is to bridge this gap.
I notice that these sites don't have the greatest design or technology. In fact, I believe the sites run on static HTML pages as opposed to my database driven back-ends (ZenCart on fuelpumps.com and Custom on racingseats.com).
The competitor's http://www.racing-seats-usa.com/index.html uses "techniques" such as pointless duplication of keywords links (all going to the same place)
For example:
corbeau seats | corbeau | corbeau racing seats | corbeau seat | corbeau racing seats cheap | corbeau racing seat | corbeau seats for sale | corbeau bucket seats | buy corbeau seats | corbeau seats free shipping
They also use very keyword rich content to fill their pages. Do these techniques still work?
From subscribing to Google Webmaster Youtube channel: Google Webmasters - YouTube I have been hearing that the best way to make your web site rank high is to make the web site as appealing to customers as possible. Obviously there must still be some "techniques" that work well aside from just making the best site possible.
How much impact does this competitor's "techniques" have on their search engine ranking? What about their use of static vs dynamic pages? What else has made them successful as an e-commerce web site.
