Will google punish sites that index their backlinks?

I've heard a couple of people saying that it's very easy to track sites that ran their backlinks through an indexer tool and that there is a very good chance that google will penalize sites that do this in one of it's next updates.

What do you think about this?
Is it easy to find out if a site has used an indexer tool (eg linklicious)?
Is there a chance google will penalize sites for doing so?

There are a few kinds of indexer tools that i know:

    1) Those that make tons of crappy backlinks to your backlinks to get them indexed.
    2) Others that create feeds to your backlinks and submit them to aggregators
    3) Others That continously ping your backlinks until they get crawled

Not although all these things are done the wrong way for a purpose but they are done in majority. For example wordpress pings each posts you publish, rss feeds are submitted by so many people without any intention of indexing and you will be aware of all kinds of crappy backlinks that are built by tiered backlinking services.

So my take is that google like to ignore these childish approaches of getting their backlinks indexed. Afterall a crap backlink whether indexed or not is a crap.

I respectly disagree. You couldn't be more wrong about this. You can get into trouble if you mass ping only and keep trying to yell at Google to index your backlinks (this will results in the opposite affect, them deindexing or discounting them). This of course provides no "proof" or reason for the search engines to pick up your links, other than you told them. That's why its not only important to do what linklicious does, which is mass ping, but also BacklinksIndexer, which is build links to links.

Tiered linking can get silly and the law of diminishing returns kicks in. However, if you have a bunch of links and they aren't counted, they won't help you, so building links to them and putting some plan in place to have them count can significantly boost up all your links, which in aggregate can be thousands of % points higher in value.

Actually Matthew you missed the whole point. My point was not questioning the credibility of the services you or other people use or run for indexing.

The point is that it is a sheer waste of time forcing google to index links that don't deserve it. A good link gets indexed itself. I have seen the results in the long run.

You keep telling google that you are building crap to your website and make efforts to show google the proof. There can't be anything foolish than this.

The only possible use i can think of a good indexing service is to speed up the indexing process of good links. OR may be not:rolleyes:

Definitely Google can push up your sites on search engine if backlinks are indexed. But which kind of backlinks? Quality, ethical, hand built, natural, user friendly comment and content. This kind of backlinks indexed naturally.

If you create 1000000000000 profile backlinks or directory and they are indexed by Google then there is no profit in SEO. You may penalized by Google.

Only backlinks creation is not the SEO, something else. Add social share your quality backlinks.

It really depends. I believe that only quality backlinks will benefit sites in the long run. My opinion is, only create great content and get links from high pr sites-thats it. Nothing spammy that can destroy your rankings in the long run.

If you need to backlink to your backlinks, ping them, put
them under your pillow and make a wish, smoke 'em
in the crack pipe, or whatever, you people are in need
of a serious backlinking strategy overhall....

The only punishment that comes is wasting valuable time
on nonsense. I am not sure I would even want google
to penalize these people. More time (and money) wasted by my potential
      competitors, the better for me.

It's better for backlinks to be found by Google slowly and naturally rather than pinging them in mass.

For indexing purposes I use auto-approve blog comment blasts on Scrapebox on lower tier links, so they get crawled and eventually the upper tier links get found. This creates a more natural index pattern instead of mass pinging all at once.

When you create manual links, they aren't natural :-)

Can you please tell me why you are not like manual links?

Is it really truth that manual links are not natural?

Are you doing SEO work by ROBOT or software?

This is really shame to hear from you.
