Homepage PR and PR leakage Question

Do links on your home page (leading to inner pages) reduce your homepage PR?

I have a total of 24 important links on the homepage that lead to inner pages, all of these inner pages have PR. I assume its because those pages feed off the homepage PR.

I also have other links on my home page of which aren't important, yet they also have PR. For instance, the feedback, login, send to a friend, contact us, register and disclaimer all have PR. Does this dilute my homepages pagerank and should I nofollow those non important pages?

Another words, would my homepage PR potentially be higher if I nofollowed unimportant links.

If your contact us, etc. all have page rank and you don't have any other backlinks, then I would think you are leaking PR to them. I've always just noindexed them and kept them as dofollow, but now you have me wondering.

      No, that's not right.

Putting nofollow on a link does not prevent PR from flowing. The PR still flows, in fact. It just doesn't reach the destination; it just evaporates.

Do not nofollow your internal links. Why tell search engines that you don't trust your own pages.

Its does Retsek. However when you have some nofollow links on the same page , less PR flows through the links that have not been nofollowed.

Say for example there are 3 nofollow link on a page with PR x and 3 non- nonfollow links, then No PR flows through the nofollow links and equivalent to x/6 PR flows through non-nofollow links. If there were no nofollow links on the page then the PR that flowed through non nofollows will be x/3

Although PR decay is a completely different thing. There is some PR decay always so that their is no PR conservation when PR passes from A to B to C and then again to A. This decay is to prevent such a situation from happening.

So I was doing some reading and seen where Matt Cutts advised not to nofollow these pages.

Given the way that Google works since this change, I would let PageRank flow even to your privacy and terms-of-service type pages. Even those sorts of pages can be useful for more searches than you would expect.

Don't reduce your PR, just reduces the amount of PR your other subpages get by a fraction. Standard SEOMoz advice is to amalgamate all your non-value pages into 1 page. So your contact-us, privacy policy, etc.

Was once curious about a related question - never got a decent answer - do links to Twitter/Facebook cede PR. I figured not - probably special case. Although apparently reciprocal links to external sites "are dead" because they do cede PR - hence all that cloaking stuff. Unless you do some sort of 302 clickthrough redirect.

PR doesn't "leak" or become less when linking to other pages, well, as long as they're highly relevant to your page/post.

As long as there's a high relevancy to your outbound links, there's not much of a risk losing PR. I've been at this a long time, and I've never had that happen to any of my sites.

As seo haven said actually this kind of thing doesn't happen. If your page rank is going down for internal linking you should stop interlinking your website.
