Adsense CTR rapidly reduced since 4 days ago...

Hi !

I wonder if any of the forum members here is experienced the same thing as in title:
My adsense ctr is rapidly reduced since 4 days ago. I can not figure why is this, since I didn't do any changes on the site. I had ctr something over 2 %, and now is below 0.5 %. I wonder why is this happening and is here someone who is able to help me and discover why ?

The site I am talking about is NOT the site in my signature, and my visit is the same all time. So, where is the problem ?

    It depends on how many adwords customers are buying those particular keywords and how much they are paying. In my experience, it stays fairly steady but does have some drops and increases sometimes. E.g. You'll find you'll get a lot more per click for the keyword 'diet' or something similar in January and less so during the christmas months because most people search for 'weight loss' in January. Therefore, it might be that the ads are not as targeted as before.

    Also 4% is a very low click through rate. I was getting around 10-15% on my sites when I used adsense and still do on my affiliate sites. It's all about placing and blending in.

    Keep the colors of the ads similar to the colors on the website. It's imperative that they blend in, but don't trick people into clicking as this is against their TOS. You should use the same colors, but don't write anything like 'click the link below' above your ads.

    Don't use image ads. Text ads have a far higher click through rate.

    Place ads on the left side of the text (people read left to right).

    Place ads in the menu on a sidebar if you have one. Pub the ads in between menu items so that they blend in more.

    Google 'Adsense Psychology' or 'Adsense Placement' or something similar. There are so many 'little' things you can do to increase CTR, things you'd never have thought about!

    As first, I am aware of all that, since I am in adsense for almost 10 years. For now, I don't have an explanation why this happening. Since the visit is unchanged, website look is unchanged, and I simply didn't do any changes at all on my website. Mistery for me

    Possible reasons:

    1. Your traffic has reduced.
    2. Your CPC is diminishing.
    3. You probably changed your website theme or layout and the CTR now sucks..

      Just the number 2 can be the reason, since my CPC is also dropped rapidly. But, as far as I can see, the ads are remain the same, from same advertisers.

      Good question, a day to day CTR change is nothing to worry about. However, if you have consistent CTR differences from month to month could be seasonal, or week to week could just be changes in the market. However, id review ad copy and go from there.
