Hi guys,

Just wondering how far away from the original keyword my site was targeting can i start taking the content ..

That might not make sense so what i mean is..

If i built my site and targeted the keyword `occupational therapy assistant` and all my content was `occupational therapy assistant salary, online occupational therapy assistant programs, accredited occupational therapy assistant online programs ect etc...

I have done the above not with `occupational therapy assistant` but with a very close keyword and the site is doing really well, with the latest PR update the site is now a PR4 the inner pages are strong and every fresh article i add gets good ranking with very very little backlinking.

But i`d love to try for the more challenging keywords ie `occupational therapy` and then the longer tail `occupational therapy salary` ect ect..

Do you guy think thats a good idea or not ? i`m torn between trying this and building a new site just not sure if its right to create a site with tons of info on `occupational therapy assistants` and then try to rank other pages for `occupational therapy salary`
Any thoughts ??

Thanks Jim

It's not really a problem at all! I've seen a photography site rank #1 for a very hard to rank for health niche product. Well off topic! But yours seem to be relatively near the topic. Go for it.

    occupational therapy assistant salary

Do like Wikipedia does with anchor-text:

...some relevant text here occupational therapy assistant salary some relevant text here...
Hover your cursor over all that anchor-text above, that's two separate hyperlinks.

I would only use that once per page & sparingly for any additional links/keywords on the same page.

You can definitely try this, however the farther you get from long tail the closer you get from larger traffic but less conversions-keep that in mind.
