Looking for tools to check how many backlinks the competitor have

Hey
I used to check the competitor backlinks with few different tools like:
Seo spyglass, Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch
and

Free backlink checker | Backlink analysis and link discovery
But it looks like Im not getting the accurate number because I checked the backlink to my own websites (3 different websites) and the backlinks shown on my google webmaster account are different. Its show more backlinks ( 1000 more backlinks ) on webmster tool. Thats mean that Im not getting the right number about the competitor backlinks, so how can I know how hard is the competition on spesific keyword?

I have good luck with SEO spyglass...

Try majesticSEO. It's not as good, imo.

Personally I use-

Ahrefs
MajesticSEO
OpenSiteExplorer
SEO Spy Glass
Webmaster Tools
Bing Site Explorer

This gives you the most complete overview of the entire link profile as possible.

I'm currently doing some work for a client, Majestic said he had 30k backlinks - but when I got the data from all the sources above, merged it and removed duplicates he actually had 150k backlinks.

No backlink tool will ever be able to show you the complete set of backlinks.

Obviously in Google webmaster tools, you are going to get a more accurate view of Google backlinks as it's a window into their own index.

patco - like I wrote, I checkes the backlinks to 3 different sites I own and the results on the webmaster tools show 1000 backlinks more than the backlinkwatch.com About Spyglass I only now see that the free version show limites amount of backlinks. But from what I checkes the backlinkwatch.com is not accurate. The only way I can check it is with my own websites where I have a webmaster tool account.

You can't possibly get it all right even when you use all the tools, there is always those few BL google hides from you..

However, you should be able to do much with the little that is available to you...

A combination of tools like SEOSpyGlass, Backlink Watch, Open Site Explorer, you should be just fine..

IMO its not about backlinks, its about referring domains, c class subnets, increase these numbers and you'll be fine.
