Does it matter if all your titles are similar?

I was wondering if your titles are similar, would it matter in terms of ranking/losing rankings/getting sandboxed etc?

Like let's say you have 200 posts each post says something like

Power Ranger toys Review
Furby Review
Barbie Review
PS3 Review
Assassins Creed 3 Review

(These are examples).

But yeah you get the point. What if you had all your posts with review in the end? Do you think that will matter at all?

I've never really worried about it.

    I just do

Power Ranger Toys Review - Website Name
    Furby Review - Website Name
    Barbie Review - Website Name

you get the point... It's worked out well for me

I have a site where the title tag is all the same.

In fact, big sites normally put their site name on
all page title, like the WF.

I also have a smaller site where all article titles
are preceded by the same words (niche) in <h2>

In your example, I would do something like:
      <h2>Toy reviews...
      <h1>Furby...

Each having the same h2, different h1.

Granted, I do my site coding more for adsense ad
triggers than SEO, but it seems to me it's a decent
      practice.

Now let's say it's just a bunch of products, in a certain niche. It would be best to create a different post for one of them right?

Cause I don't think I'd implement Furby + barbie on the same post. So each one will have it's on title being:

        Furby Review
        Barbie Review

  • GGpaul,

You definitely want to watch out for duplicate title tags or tags that are too long however the ones you have written are fine. Sovereignn’s suggestion of adding a brand name is also wise.

Here is more info on title tags for seo,

    Hope that helps,

Okay. Well all my products are completely different. The only thing that's the same is the review part.

So far I haven't gotten hit, I'm just making sure everything is good to go.

I've never heard about duplicate title or duplicate description penalties.
The only thing they might affect if used improperly is the users who may get confused at times. But for the ones you posted I find no faults at all.
