Depends on what you mean by redesigning-short answer: Yes it will.

If you are changing the coding, changing meta, adding rel canonicals, etc it will change the ranking.

This is a broad question because no one can really tell you unless they know what you are changing EXACTLY.

I have done it out in word-press on a sub domain and I am going to transfer the files over to the domain when I get it transferred to me. The only thing staying the same is the text I have just used a simple theme to change the look and layout....

I believe whenever someone makes major changes to their website, then yeah, a few changes may take place in the serps.

However, usually the changes (if any) will only be short term and your site bounces back in the serps just like normal.

I've redesigned my sites many times over the years and they've never really had a negative affect on my seo.

Yes your rankings will change because the content, possibly Title tags, Meta descriptions, H-1 tags etc. are all going to be different.

I would also use a tool like screaming frog to get a copy of your websites URLs, Titles, Meta data etc. so when you redesign your website you can use the same URLs and other info

Redesigning a website will definitely affect the seo rankings. Expect a serious cutback on your traffic after the site is redesigned and launched. Just make sure that an effective 404 Error page is prepared before the launch.

There will be a little ranking changes and drop in traffic.

If you redesign the website you need to list all of the important pages especially those with high rankings, what pages stay and what don't. Have a list of pages that you are going to 301 to the new pages so that it will be easy to identify.

Redesigning have lots of pro and cons as well. If designing is good then you can collect lots of potential visitors. If not then bounce rate will be high. One thing always take into mind that always add fresh and unique contents. Also take care of website meta elements.

I have tried to stay away from doing so. Moving sites to other nameservers/hosts/domain registrars didn't affect me but simply changing the theme hurt me a lot

I know people that weren't affected when they did it so i guess i was unlucky lol

If you change your WP theme sometimes you get sandboxed for a little while.

The short answer is Yes. Just by changing a theme or installing a new plugin your rankings can go up and down a page or 2. Make sure you keep a backup of the old site so you can roll back if rankings tank.

PS - Make sure you do 301 redirects from the old pages to the new pages.

The best you can do is make redirects from all the old pages to relevant ones in your new site.

Yep it can change your rankings, funny that everyone mentions that it affects it in a negative way while it can work out positively just as well.
