Anyone noticed negative changes in SERPs after making positive changes?

Hi guys,

Just wondering whether those that were affected by recent Google updates and who made changes to their websites have seen worse rankings as a result?

I had a product review site that only slipped to page 2 in SERPs for a selection of keywords after the Google updates. I have continued to add unique content each week, but have not built many backlinks other than from social bookmarking and social media sites, but each time I add content, the rankings drop. Now, most of the keywords are out of the top 100 results. I've not over optimised - if anything I have almost omitted using those keywords in titles, tags and main copy...

Anyone else noticed this with affected sites?

May be your competitors have done some SEO and got some quality back links to be considered by Google for your Keywords targeted.

Could be the competition that is sitting still, could also be poor quality content (but you know that best your self), another thing that might have an influence is if the content at the other pages is less relevant to the rest of your website so that it's losing focus, however that is a bit guessing.

Another thing to think about is that you might have lost back links, completely natural, or perhaps you have used a service that used high PR blog posts and once they roll of the homepage your rankings do drop a bit as less juice get's passed your way.
