Which web 2.0 or article directories rank faster?

I have been a web developer and seo student for a few years now. All the work I have done to this point has really been bricks business client based and not IM based. I found the WF a few months ago and joined. I have just been reading all the great information on this site for the most part. The time has come. I want to get into the IM biz. Here is what I am doing for a first project. Please feel free to give me as much input, and advice, as you can.

For my first project I have chosen the health industry. To be more specific, the flu. I picked some key phrases and have written funnel articles that are being posted to goarticles.com that link to my amazon affiliate product page.

I have initiated my link building campaign to the articles and am now watching. My question is this. Out of all the web 2.0 and article directories sites out there, are there any that seem to rank faster than others consistently?

I am a sponge! Please give me all ideas, alternatives, innovations, links to posts, and anything else you can think of that will help me in this process.

Thanks Warriors!

If you're posting to an article directory try and make it one that has a good editiorial policy and does not just accept any old S&*t. You have to place your content in "good neighbourhoods" otherwise it will look (and quite possibly be) treated like spam.

ezine, goarticles (questionable), sooperarticles, squidoo, hubspot etc.

For the health industry, affiliate or your own products and for faster rankings I'll use Squidoo first, Hubpages second. Squidoo ranks faster (my own tests) and is far better for affiliate marketing and better flexibility as a webmaster. Again, my own experiences here. Hubpages great, but for me is basically writing for relevant traffic and another marketing mix. Use both, just fully re-write or reframe the 500-1,000 word article submitted.

Article directory? Ezinearticles best choice, just put the article in your site first, have it indexed and then submit to EZA. Even if EZA wants exclusivity, you shouldn't have problems here.

        Thanks Boricua. Couple of questions.

        1. When you are promoting squidoo do you bombard it with links as soon as it is indexed or do you drip them in?

        2. Do you just hit them with mass articles, bookmarking, and videos?

Any additional tips here? Thanks in advance!

Back in 2011 and early 2012 I did indeed bombarded with articles and other links, now I drip-feed everything. Lots of more work even if it's a privately owned site that won't affect me or my clients but the long term effect will be either ranking lost for blasting or higher rankings earned by going correct with drip-feed. So I drip feed now thinking of Google even for the Squidoo lens.

Do both Squidoo and Hubpages and re-frame or fully rewrite the content in one pack and you've 2 for 1 in small amount of time..works very well for these 2.0 properties. Best of sucess here

There are many article directories that are worthwhile:
    http://www.ezinearticles.com
    Squidoo : Welcome to Squidoo

And I also recommend you try some directories with decent PR but good acceptance rates.
Unique Article Directory | Find and Submit Articles | ArticleVoid
ArticleCity.com - Free Articles for Reprint. Free Articles for your web site and newsletters. Submit Your Articles to Our Articles Directory.
Base Articles | Free Articles Directory, Free Reprint Articles

Remember, that Article Marketing can be powerful. All of your articles will eventually get ranked but if you are writing content you would like to submit to a popular website to get maximum exposure and a quality backlink.

So I would recommend the directories with PR => 6. Good luck.

  • That answered my question. I had a few Squidoo lenses but when I visited them recently they showed up as being unpublished when I had indeed published them a few months ago.

So in order to keep them alive I have to create a link campaign for them as well. Thanks for the tip guys.

No, that won't work. Squidoo has a duplicate content filter that will cause your lens to get flagged.

As for backlinks to Squidoo... you really don't need to work that hard on those pages. If you do a decent job of keyword research first and a decent job of content on the page and a decent job of taking advantage of their strong internal linking options, you need very few backlinks and you don't have to micro-manage them to keep them indexed. It's just a matter of setting them up properly in the first place.

I rank articles with 20+ million competing results with simple interlinking alone.

Just sign up for an account and submit your guest post.

Don't confine yourself to article directories...think "guest posting"...

    Try it...

Is this website yours? Are you letting do-follow links in the article body?

I must say Squidoo is best, why because Squidoo Lens get index very fast in search engines.
Here are my lenses List of high PR blogs and List of High PR forums. I got PR 5 and PR 4 respectively for both lenses with in 2 weeks of publishing and the best part is that I did not do much linkbuilding for those lenses. You can check and verify their PR.

If it's a good article, put it on your site, get it indexed, get some social proof to it. If your site is new, you really want to establish to google its your article.

About a month later, submit it to Ezine. If the article is good, at least a few PR0, PR1 sites will syndicate it. Most of my hubs and lenses are only PR1, so you actual get more mileage from directories.

For diversities sake, do some manual guest posting. It's not hard to find PR2-PR3 sites that will take an okay article. Your post will start with N/A Page Rank, but PR isn't everything. These sites in your niche that accept guest posting will have a higher relevance than a squidoo or hub page.

    Thanx PotPieGirl
I got the same confirmed from squidoo forum...
The reason for my question came up after I found out that article submission at Ezine does not have to be un-indexed. In other words at Ezine you can submit and get approved article that is already published on your blog/website.
