Adsense: How Do I Know Which Sites Or Categories To Block?

I hear people talk about blocking certain sites and/or entire categories because they are low paying. I would like to do this but I am wondering how do I know which sites and/or categories to block?

My adsense is wierd, one days I have low clicks I earn a lot of money like today I have one click but it paid over $2. Yesterday however I had over 50 clicks and my cpc was only 0.06. I wanna keep the high cpc on days when I have a lot of clicks. I don't expect $2 but heck even 0.40 cents would make a world of difference.

Can someone help me please?

You should block as little as possible, categories included.
The more you block, the less people bidding.

Google has 8+ years doing this. They tell you up
front that they can put ads to your visitors quite well
    without your help.

The only caveat is this. If you feel google is reading your
site wrong, and filling with one category, you might block
that category. BUT....with one fell swoop, you banned all
current winning bids on your site.

I think people have been taught to go wild and block stuff.
Bad idea. One reason why many people complain about CPC.
Not the only reason, but certainly one.

Google wants to you block nothing and allow image/text.

I decided not to fight that, and have been sparingly blocking
    individual sites. Works for me.

Google puts more personal ads out there for visitors now
than ever before. What you see, what Joe sees, what Jane
    sees, are 3 different things.

Thanks for the tip Paul, I guess less is more. If I were to block just a few select sites is ther any rhyme or reason to how people do this? I would imagine a major company or brand is paying more for keywords than some smalltime site so would that be a good criteria or no? Or do I only want to block sites that are showing up on my blog but not at all relevant to thecontent?
