The title say it much. I've been wondering if i can still doing SEO even without aged or emd domain. You can say that :

-The domain is generic or any random names for example.
-Content are 100% unique or at least 80-90%, with related pictures and video
-Doing manual backlink rather than automated one.

So, i hope anyone can give me good advice for this one and we can discuss in this thread

Age = More Trust and EMD still can boost you ranking even after the update.

The methods that your using is fine.

In short, yes, they both help despite what you might have heard about EMD penalties and such.

In your case, I'd make one suggestion, that's to keep your content 100% original on your site. 80-90% won't get you anywhere, not in the long term anyway.

The most important thing is providing human consumable content. IMO a creative, catchy domain name is much better than an EMD. Just keep your site natural.

I agree that aged domain names are great and EMD can still work even after the update. Just do 100% unique content, do manual backlinking, and avoid blackhat techniques to avoid penalty.

    aged domains are good.

as for EMDs they still work but I forget that and focus on Branding and center your domain that way.

  • EMD update had varying results. In some cases site has not been affected, in other cases the site went down on all searches related to keyword used in the domain name and in still other cases it only affected if the content was overoptimized for a keyword.

You could avoid EMD problem but why take the risk. One of my five month old site is PR4 and my 10 year old site is PR2 so age is just one of the factors.

Age and EMD has nothing to do with real world search
      results done by real people.

It only makes domain sellers richer, buyers poorer.
