Hidden content good for SEO or not?

Hi

I have a side box that I want to make collapsible/expandable with JQuery. The idea being that only part of the content will show. Any additional content can be viewed by clicking a "view more" link. The content container will then expand to show the rest of the content.

My question is will Google view this as a negative because the content is not initially viewable on screen.

    Hidden content is not considered good for SEO. In SEO hidden content is not considered as a ethical technique and can bann the site from search engines.

    Its toggle text and its ethical one. No need to worry about this. It is not considered as a hidden text actually. Using toggle text in your web page is for you convenience. read more link has to be given after the content for user perspective,thats enough

    Hidden content is not at all good for SEO and using this technique one's website can be spammed and penalized for a long time. Using this content one can surely achieve good ranking but in a long time a permanent spam and penalty is achieved by search engines.
