Perusing BestBuy for fun today, and noticed...

Not only are they selling amazon kindles and the like, but
they are sporting ads from google.

BestBuy, we hardly knew ya....

They might as well toss in the towel, close the stores, and
become a super affiliate. They certainly have name recognition
if not in-store paying customers

I wonder how much revenue they pull from googleads.

Mozilla Firefox is another super affiliate. If you're using their browser, you'll notice that they have a little search toolbar on the upper right hand side. This has the usual default search engines like Google, YouTube, and, yep... Amazon (where they then place their affiliate ID, mozilla-20)! So imagine the billion of Firefox users using that little search field to look for prodcuts on Amazon and Firefox getting commissions every time...

Mozilla is more like a partner, like ask.com, aol.com,
      etc.

BestBuy is a company. Selling products. It's like going
into Walmart and seeing ads to hop over to Sears or Kmart.

Why would you sell computers, and put ads to go to
your competitor's site to buy? They certainly would make
more on a PC sale than an ad click.

Amazon.com has outside ads, but amazon does not have
a brick and mortar store. Amazon owns a whole host of
online websites like alexa, boxofficemojo, IMDB, etc. That's
      their online empire.

BestBuy is a whole other ballgame.

BestBuy is close to being done and done. Their sales dropped, lost millions.

And now trying to scrape some pennies with googleads?

Like I said, with the name recognition bestbuy has, they should turn
themselves into an affiliate, close all the stores.

Amazon should buy them out. Turn bestbuy into another traffic funneler.

I imagine Best Buy offline stores will fade away like Circuit City. I haven't been in an offline BB for years, it's just easier to buy online. I bought a PC bundle a couple of years ago from BBs website, only because it was an awesome deal for the price, all HP, 17" laptop, slimeline desktop + 20" monitor, netbook, & a Netgear wireless router, all for less than $1,100. I basically got the PC + 20" monitor for free, compared to competition prices.

On a similar note, I noticed that Amazon has been using Adwords to advertise their products, so basically Google is a super affiliate for Amazon now.

Best Buy came to the UK all brash and promising to kick ass. They ended up losing millions, closing all their stores and moving their sorry ass back to the USA.
