Linkbuilding in the future

Hi guys, the more i advance in the IM the more i think that actually it is almost impossible to do proper SEO. From the techniques i am already aware of, that are bringing pure SE value, not traffic are / i know they also bring traffic but my question is about ranking/:
forum comments; forum profile; blog comments; guest blog posting; bookmarks; social networks; article directory submissions; blog networks.

Majority of the above, no matter white hat or not, are slowly getting devalued /or they are simply forbidden/ by Google's algorithm updates or become risky and less worthy because of the big OBL on the page and i only see bookmarks and forum comments as a way to help your links. I leave guest blog posting apart because i am sure this will last.
Maybe it is only me but i start thinking SEO might end with the do follow links - is there anyone with similar thoughts? I am sure that Google is preparing an update / if not ready with it/ to detect spun blog posts, also i guess that sooner or later many of the few quality bookmarking sites would change to no follow to stop the spam and the space to "do SEO" is getting very small?

Sorry to say but it's little bit pessimist approach. As far as SEO is concern, It's just getting streamlined nothing else. Search Engines are trying to provide better results (in other word spam free)
Linkbuilding was there, it is and it will (As long as search engines are there). Search Engines are just trying to eliminate the spamming part out of it or you can say they are trying to encourage users to replace linkbuilding with linkearning. Here are my take about linkbuilding activites which you have been mentioned above

Forum Posting & Blog Comments ::
Still works if you are contributing the forums & blogs with quality and relevant discussions/comments instead of spamming.

    Article Marketing/ Blogs :
Can still provide you the bestest of the best traffic if the quality of your articles/blogpost are well enough to get syndicated naturally.

So it was about quality, It is about quality and it will be about quality

What future? The world ends somewhere in Nov or December 2012 so what the heck you're talking about?

In case the world doesn't end (small chance, why you think I;m burning through my money) then I think you guys are better of playing Sudoko instead of doing SEO based on what I read above.

Backlinks from articles, forum posting and such is becoming more devalued. Google wants to see time on page, relevance and good content. Work on your on-page seo and after that then focus on getting backlinks. You should try to get backlinks from authority sites, press-releases, .edu and .gov backlinks and blog commenting on relevate niche. This will help you the most

Don't forget that someone has to rank. So even if you don't rank, it means someone else is. Its not as if people are searching less on Google than they did a few years ago. In fact, the overall search queries are at an all time high.

In my opinion I think what you should do is continue what you are doing and what you think is right. Everything is up to Google's algorithm and what we could do is to make a guess. I think the best thing to do right now is build a brand and be an authority as well create relationship with other bloggers online.
