Big fluctuations on PPC

I have a website. I put adsense a little while ago and noticed big fluctuations in how much I was getting for a click.

Some days, the click is worth 5 cents, the other day the click is worth 2$.

I was wondering if anybody know why there is such a big fluctuation on PPC.

Also, does anybody know if the PPC is differs for different countries... let`s say a person from china or india vs a north american or european person clicks on an add.

Hey Little Cambodian Girl, not sure what you mean by using adsense with PPC?

PPC = pay per click. This is the term for using adwords (not adsense) when you are advertising. You make a ad and then you pay when someone clicks on it.

Adsense = Having a website that display ads. This will show ads the PPC advertiser has made.

Anyways, I think you mean that your adsense ads are paying you different amounts each day on your website.....No idea what that would be.

    • Yeah... That's what I meant

I'm still pretty knew with all the adsense adword stuff, trying to figure out a lot of the language lol

But yeah I just find it weird that I see so much fluctuations... Some days my hope are so high with how much I make, the next day, with the same number of people and the same number of clicks, I get like not even 1/100 of what I was getting just the day before.

Maybe it has something to do with a specific page content.

Don't know that much about how Google gives out on adsense these days but my thoughts are no one will really know the exact answer. They keep their algorithms secret.

      Hi LittleCambodianGirl,

You asked "....does anybody know if the PPC is differs for different countries... let`s say a person from china or india vs a north american or european person clicks on an add"? I assume you meant to say CPC (Cost Per Click) rather than PPC.

Advertisers can choose which countries and/or languages they wish to have their ads displayed. So if someone visits your page from China, only the ads that have been approved for traffic from China will be displayed. Those ads may have significantly lower bids and will pay you a much lower CPC.

Another thing to consider is that a single ad unit could have up to 5 different ads and each will pay a different amount. If you have multiple ad units on a single page then some of those ads are going to be significantly lower CPC than others. Naturally your earnings will vary based on which ads your visitors click on.

Lastly, the AdSense program allocates the higher paying ads to the pages that are currently performing better, so as your own page's performance fluctuates, so will the ads being served to your page.

  • Thank you so much for the info!

I took a guess that these were the probable answers, but having someone confirming it will reassure me I'm starting to understand a little bit more and will help me set the right goals.

Well I guess I need to work on stabilizing my page performance and try to target a more specific population
