Hi All,

I was hoping some of you might be able to give me some tips on bidding on Trademarked keywords in Adwords, using the following keyword as an example:

"Trademarked Cars"

Obviously the word Cars is not trademarked, but how do I go about targeting this keyword when the first word is.

Cheers

It shouldn't be too hard. The only problem I can think of is that it's going to be pretty expensive. I haven't done any research on it but if you're going up against billion dollar companies, I'm sure they have a decent budget for adwords and will just bid ridiculous amounts to stay on top.

If you have a website related to the car you're trying to advertise then you shouldn't have any problems. Now if you were advertising "Honda Cars" and the site is dedicated to Ford, then you might run into a problem with Google.

Try targeting cars that aren't hot right now. Anything you see on TV.... Don't target lol. Target those cars in a few months when they aren't being advertised anymore.

  • Jake,

Typically you can use trademarked terms in adwords until someone (a trademark holder) complains. Other times you may have to prove to Google first that you are an authorized reseller for the particular trademarked product/service.

Here are Google’s policies on trademarked terms in Adwords,

    Hope that answers your question,

    Thanks guys,

I guess what I am getting at, is that I cant use the keyword that I want to use.

As example, I can't use the keyword "Trademark" , but I wan't to know, is there another way around it?

What if I use the term "Trademar" or "rademark" with a broad search?

Or is there anything else I can do?

It works...if you can get away with it. I made a boatload of cash a few years ago by bidding on a guy's name who was associated with a niche...not really a trademark...but kinda.
