High Outbound Links count - Bad?

Hi guys,
Just wondering if you can help me by letting me know if you think having a site with a lot of outbound links a bad thing? And if so then is there a clever remedy for this while still being able to publish the links?
I use Wordpress, is there a way to automatically set noFollow to all outbound links on the site? What is the downside for this?
