Google Adwords for youtube Video - anyone using it?

Is anyone using google adwords for video? Any luck/success/lessons learned?

I stopped using adwords several years ago, because the ppc got to be prohibitive for all but longest-tail keywords (>$6/click in my niche). Seems like just posting a lot of youtube videos that are keyword-optimized would be the most economical, albeit slower/harder way for traffic from youtube viewers.
Of course there's the whole question of, do youtube viewers buy much from ads (embedded in video w/calls to action/adwords/links), or is it just where everyone goes for free video, not qualified prospects.
