This is a list and brief explanation of where and how to get backlinks. The last time, I made a post of how to make first page in search engines and promise to post "Ten ways to get backlinks" the next time. I did some research and experiment to compile this list of ten ways to get quality backlinks. Without delay let's dive in to see the ten ways we can generate quality backlinks.

• Blog Commenting

This is the easiest way to get some backlinks to your blog; but doing it right matters. Most bloggers hate spammers and are very suspicious, so you have to be cautious on your part for you not to be seen as a spammer. To use blog commenting for backlinks, subscribe to your favorite blog or high quality blogs in your niche, and make sure you be the first to comment whenever they update. When leaving a comment, please do not leave random comment such as: "nice post, great content, good information". If you leave comments like that, you will be regarded as a spammer and your comment will not be approved. Apart from subscribing to blogs, use google to search for blogs in your niche, make sure to read the post before your comment to be able to give something meaningful. It can even help you to add valuable information to the post, may prompt readers to click on your name to learn more about you. When leaving your comment do not include links in your comment, it is very easy to make yourself look like a spammer. Besides most blog these days use comment luv, a wordpress plugin which display your blog's most recent post under your comment. With comment luv you don't need to paste links in your comment anymore.

• Social Bookmarking

This is a fast and easy way to get backlinks. I believe by now you have a facebook and twitter account. If you have, add more social accouts like reddit, sumbleupon, linkedin and any one you like, and share your blog post to all. It will take some time to set up at first, but after the first time all you need is few clicks, and your post will be posted to over forty social bookmarking sites.

• Submit To Blog Directories

Many directories online allows you to submit your blog for free with a one way link in return. Submit your blog to free directories and avoid directories that will request for reciprocal links, that won't help your blog. Instead, use free services and if you must use a paid listing, make sure it's a quality listing.

• Guest Blogging

When discussing backlinks method, it is impossible to skip guest blogging, because it is the most effecting and natural. Write blog post for bloggers with quality blogs and leave a link pointing to your blog. Use google to search for blogs in your niche that are accepting guest post and ask them if they will accept a guest post from you. Sending them sample of a written article may help increase your chance of being accepted; let them know the article you will give to them is going to be 100% unique.

• Forum Posting

Using url as forum signature is also a great way to get backlinks. Whenever you make a post, your url is also included under the post you make. If you are alredy a member of this forum, then you have a great tool at your disposal; but sad to say many have being banned. To avoid getting ban, you should be doing only two things. Asking and answering questions. If you are not doing any of the two above, then you should be offering information in form of article.

• Distribute A Press Release

If you have just lunch a new blog or have something newsworthy, you can make a press release. Press release needs to be in certain format, so you might want to make some research on google with this phrase: "press release template"; you will find all the information you need on creating a press release; make sure to include your link in the press release and submit it to free press release sites or use prweb.com.

• Distribute A Podcast

If you have written a lot of articles on your blog, convert them to audio files using odiogo.com, a free service that automatically convert text to audio and after that use padcreator.com to convert the audio files to podcast files, and submit to podcast directories. This is a good way to get backlinks and traffic from old articles on your blog.

• IM Report Card

IM report card is a site that contains independent review of internet marketers. Use this site to get some backlinks by registering with IMreportcard.com, click profile link to edit your profile, go to signature section, then include a brief description about yourself and a link to your site. Search for products you have used in this site, rate it and leave a comment about the product. If your review is approved, your link should appear under your review.

• RSS Feed Directories

RSS means "Real Simple Syndication" it is a way for allowing other sites to syndicate content from your blog to their sites. If you don't have a feed, use google feed burner to burn your feed; but if you use wordpress blog then your feed should be ursitename.com/feed. When you have your feed ready, search for "RSS Feed Directories and submit your feed.

• Spy On Your Competitors

Spying on your competitors when you arerunnig out of ideas can be very helpful. It gives you new ideas of where to get backlinks. Search for any keyword of your choice and take note of the first five pages in the result and use this site: backlinkwatch.com to see where they are getting their links from.
