How much does site maturity impact SEO? Should I make an "under construction" page and register my site with search engines before it's up and running for SEO purposes?
Thanks

I wouldn't do that......just continue to add SEO Friendly pages as soon as you build them, follow all the SEO rules and guidelines (Keyword Rich Title tags, H1 Tags, Relevent Content, it Validates, Sitemap, Privacy Policy, etc....) and build as many backlinks as humanly possible with your keword (s) as the anchor text. Google does value the age of your domain and # of Quality Links, where as Yahoo! and MSN put alot more emphasis on On Page SEO.

    It does make a difference.

Website tend to get better as they age. Of course - unique content helps.

I would put up 1 page - add a couple of paragraphs about what the site is going to be about. This should take about 10 minutes.

Upload it and let it get crawled.

Then you can work on the remainder of your site.

Better to have this than an 'under construction' page.

It's best for you to focus on developing content for your site. If you've been around in the SEOsphere long enough you'd have come across the phrase "content is king" and it is. If you register your site with search engines without content on your pages you'll be wasting your time.

Site maturity is fairly important.. if your site is new don't register the domain name for just a year, get a couple of years at least.. 5 would be great.

Google checks this stuff and if you have a 5 year domain name it tells Google that you plan to be around for a while so it should take your site seriously. There's other factors to consider but the longer you register your domain name for the better.

My older sites definitely have found their way up the rankings. I think it weighs heavy in the algorythmic factors now.

One of my oldest sites is my personal blog, and the pages get ranked there in nothing flat. It's kind of awesome!

It does make a difference. Google checks this stuff and if you have a 5 year domain name it replies to Google that you plan to be around for a while so it should take your site seriously. I hope I m clear.
