How to rebrand old domain with pr site

Hi,
I learnt from this forum that after you buy an aged domain with pr you simply
create and keep same names of pages that its backlinks are pointing to, and then you can throw any content on these pages.
First of all i will prob be buying a domain with similar but not totally the same niche as what i want to use it for.
Im a little wary,
I want to try to recreate and match the content that the backlinks were pointing to.Then i want to add another section and create posts in my
(a different) topic.
So keep content that original backlinks were for and then create another section for what i want to use it for. IS this a good or a stupid idea?
