Little Tip For Amazon Affiliates

A lot of people complain about amazon commission %

I think that the % is fair and is very lucrative if you move volume of high priced items (captain obvious).

Anyway...It's the 24 hour cookie that annoys me.

If you can, try to find a an alternative seller on CJ or LinkShare or something that offers one of the products that you are marketing (with a longer referral period).

I recently tested this and had a big jump in earnings.

Sounds good. But to me amazon is converting the best. Additionally you get comission for all the other products a customer is buying especially during christmas time.

Interesting. How many products did you test it for? Also, what commision rate does CJ and linkshare pay?

Yes, high priced items give a good commission, but they're also a lot more difficult to sell.

Definitely try other merchants though. Amazon is often the "easy" route for monetizing a site, but that doesn't mean it's the best.

I like promoting Amazon products but yes the commission is very poor. In general though I found it quite easy to make regular sales and sometimes customers will buy unrelated items as well as. multiple items which is handy.

What kind of products you have tested from CJ/linkshare and please elaborate a little bit about the results and changed in your commissions details if you don't mind

That's true. But it's also true for most advertisers on other platforms as well. It doesn't matter what product link they click. If they end up dropping a grand you get your cut.

As for conversion. Sure, if you've tested, go with what works.

Well initially I just set up tracking through the one page that I was moving a lot of volume through.

It depends which advertiser. I'll explain my OP better at the end.

Yea I know what your saying. It's like you just direct the traffic flow and let the king of all e-stores do the work.

Well. I'm not going to tell you which products. But it shouldn't matter. Here's why:

The post was just really just for people that are already doing volume with amazon. To consider searching through networks like CJ and Linkshare etc for other advertisers to split test against Amazon on certain products.

Personally after about a week my earnings where up enough to make me change affiliate links on most of my pages. But it had nothing to do with commission %...it was because the number of sales went up. And I am certain it was because of a longer cookie referral period.

I agree that its fair that amazon allows affiliates to receive a small percentage for the sale of the products their promoting however I dont like how it takes 60 days to receive your payment. I know that there are a number of reasons of why this is the case but it's just frustrating waiting.

Overall, the commission rate does suck, but the instant credibility that comes with selling Amazon helps convert some sales that you may not get through other programs.

Yes, no doubt to Amazon, it converts good, you need to write reviews which sound real.

Then go down the route of having a shopping cart where the cookie lasts for 90 days.

If you can, try to find a an alternative seller on CJ or LinkShare or something that offers one of the products that you are marketing (with a longer referral period).
Fine if you are selling one particular item, but not so good if you promote dozens or hundreds of different products.

Amazon does an incredible job of getting people to purchase additional items. I've had loads of products way outside the main products I promote being sold.

Amazon conversions are ridiculously high if you know what you're doing. Well worth the annoyance of the 24 hour cookie. I've tried CJ plenty of times and it simply can't come close to the conversion rate of Amazon.
