Satellite Sites on the same host, advice on how to structure linking to new site

So I have a little dilemma and wanted to see if someone could give me some advice from a SEO perspective. I recently launched a 3 sites that sells 3 different products but are in the same field. Managing these 3 sites on different domains became a hassle plus 1 of them got punsihed from google. So I decided to start over on a new fresh site with different sub-directories for the different products.

My dilemma is how to best use the previous 3 sites that I built to help my new site rank well.

I was thinking maybe one or two dofollow link from each home page content to relevant new site sub-directory for SEO purposes and a sidebar banner with a nofollow for visitors.

All these sites are on the same host which i know is not optimal but nothing I can do about right now.

What do you guys think?

    Also im curious on what the opinon on bloggroll links are if the sites are hosted on the same host and are in the same niche. Has it come that its better to avoid blogrolls all together?
