Low earnings/low CPC, very high page views

Hi all, to start off, I'm new here to the warrior forum, and just wanted to ask a question.

I created a script for forums to use, however in order for them to use this script, they had to use my ads on their site. (This is legal since they accept the terms and the fact that they agree to do this. Adsense TOS permits this).

Now, in total, everyday I get 90,000 - 180,000 page views.

However my CTR is only around 0.11%. On a really good day, my max was $50. Normally, I make $20-$30 a day.

My question is why. People that have this much traffic make hundreds per day. Am I doing something wrong?

The only ads on their forums are a 728 x 90 leader board under the navigation bar.

Any suggestions? Thanks

    A lot depends on the niche/keywords. Some pay pennies per click and some pay several dollars. Do you know the type of sites your ads are being put on, or does it vary too much to know?

      It varies way too much to know

      However some sites receive little to no clicks. Would only putting the ads on performing sites work better than every single one? Like would that increase CPC?

    It is widely known that forums have very low CTR, since the same visitors are there every day (members) and they simply ignore all ads. In fact, 0.11 CTR is great for forum.

    forums always recieves less click than any other site by the way Adsense earnings depends upon NICHE, PLACEMENT and TRAFFIC. Change the placement of the banner and some more ads if you want to earn $100 or more as they are earning that much because they have atleast 3 ads in their pages.

      No one can tell you this but yourself. Everybody knows that the best adsense earnings can be achieved from tests, tests, and even more tests. So you must try it to find out.

    Forums have always low CTR for it's several use by a single visitor. So, nothing to worry! In that sense your rate is good enough. You can try to increase your ads. And emphasize on that topics that are directly ranked on search engine.

    Okay, thanks.

    However I was thinking of also making a niche site, and having ads to that niche site on their forums instead. I think that might be profitable, however I don't know for sure.

    Your first problem is banner size. That leader board size usually gets caught up in banner blindness. People blaze past it. On a test I'm doing right now the same banner on a leader board (less than 1%) vs square (more than 6%). The highest CTR I get are on squares. Usually 250 x 250, 300 x 250, or the 368 x 250 squares. I test many different sizes. Your next problem is likely your ad itself. Test as many as you can. I will sometimes test thousands over a few months looking for higher converting ads.

    Don't believe people telling you forums don't get clicks. I'm getting a 6% ctr on a forum at .15 cents per click in the diet niche and getting great conversions.
