I have heard since the Google penguin and panda or whatever you want to call that social bookmarks are a lot more powerful then other links when trying to rank in Google.

Is this true?

They are certainly more relevant than they were, say, 3 years ago. Google have confirmed this themselves and there are a lot of case studies on it.

From my own observations, Facebook, Twitter and Stumbleupon are the most powerful.

Yes of course every social bookmarking with High PR's are very good to ranking your site. Actually you have to do manually otherwise you would get kicked

  Not necessarily. There are some cheap pieces of software out there that automate the dull and boring part of the process - of course you don't want to abuse it to spam, getting a large influx of links within a short period of time for a new website is obviously going to throw up some flags...

Social bookmarking is responsible for most of my traffics, I basically do them manually most often. Social bookmarking can help protect your site from Google updates.

Social bookmarking links can be effective if they are done manually without the use of automated software that brings out spammy results.
It is more comforting to see the fruit of your efforts than the junk of autobots.

There are tons of social bookmarking sites available online. Beware of bookmarking your URL's in each of those site. It is better to get backlinks from top 15-20 bookmarking sites. Those will be enough for your site.

Yes, Social Bookmarking is very best regarding promotion of you websites.
But be aware for those spam sites which have been thrown out in spam list by google just because of senuke and some other bookmarking tools.
