From direct linking to creating my own site, what can I expect?

Hello everyone,

Lately I been working hard on making my own sites in the categories I already promote.

My idea is to move/clone my PPC campaigns (which are already successful using direct linking from the ad to the merchant store) to my own sites and from there to the merchant store.

I read everywhere the importance of building a list, so I intend to do that with my own sites/communities.

Here comes my question.

Using PPC I already know the % conversion rate I get with each campaign, so I can understand the click value and the return I will make.

Now that I will be linking to my own site and from there the user will have to then go to the merchant store, I can expect that return to be lower since there is another action required.

Click the ad -> my site -> interest in the product -> go to merchant store -> buy item

After looking at that scenario I am a little afraid, it looks like to many "good" things have to happen in order to get a conversion.

From the people with experience in PPC to their own sites can someone let me know if this is a good thing to do, tips, ideas, will I really benefit from this or should I keep the links going directly to the merchant stores?

Thanks a lot for your time
