Hi guys,

I've had an idea for a while now that has recently become more of a "I need to do this so I can live" type of situation. I've been a freelance internet marketer for about 4 years now, focusing mainly on social media and local SEO. While I've had a good number of clients, I'd really like to secure 1 company that basically sees me as their "internet marketing person." I'd like to approach a small medical practice or a small practice of lawyers with the idea that "If you don't have a marketing person or aren't doing any marketing online, I can help you." Of course, the pitch will be much more in depth, but this is just to give you an idea of what I want to do: Walk into a business who has no marketing or is doing it themselves, pitch my services and ultimately become the marketing person. I have a writer friend who has done this and she is extremely successful, so I'm thinking of giving it a shot.

My question is: What type of things should I be prepared with/for? What types of objections would you have if you were the prospect and I approached you with such an offer? What can I arm myself with before approaching these types of businesses? Would you recommend presenting a "marketing portfolio" with client contacts, statistics and such?

If you were going to do this, how would you do it? Any help is appreciated. If it's not a constructive comment, please don't bother replying. Thank you.

Local businesses are getting hit constantly with offline marketers. You can use direct mail with some sizzling copy to warm them up. Direct calling can be brutal so you need to stand apart from the rest. Why are you different then anyone else? Answer that and you have your unique selling point.
