I'm new to ppc was was thinking of buying some intext advertising. My opinion is it looks very intrusive.

Have any of you tried intext ppc?

Did you get a good ROI?

I like infolinks new tag ad units which look less intrusive.

Haven't tried it and also won't, because just like you, I absolutely hate seeing it on a page.

As a user, I hate it when websites have those type of advertisements. Honestly, I would say that I would only expect any success with that with ultra-targeted keywords, and then your volume is going to take a dive.

Keywords like product names and models, seasonal products, micro niche stuff I think would be the place to start testing and getting a feel for it.

I would try to find keywords that only are ever going to be on pages where the user is in buying mode because your conversion rate is going to be really low no matter what.

Gotta add to the peeps that say they hate it. However, recently I observed my girlfriend browse a site and noticed they had intext ads on it.

Of course, she accidently hovered over one but got engaged with it and actually thought it was part of the content somehow. Observed the same with a few friends of mine.

Apparently, if you are a non-marketer it seems your anti-ad-filters are a lot less advanced than to what we're used to, seeing this kind of stuff every day.

Albeit not having tried this type of advertising yet, I wouldn't discount it for being low-quality or anything without having tried. If people are really so stupid (sorry...) for believing this stuff to be part of the content then this would actually help conversions and click through.

Yea, you make a point but I'm not sure how many people know they are ads. You would think most people would notice they are ads after the popup.

My opinion is if I was to create an ad network I would only use the intag unit that infolinks use.

This unit isn't invasive at all in my opinion and you can place it where ever you want. Above the content is where I would place it for higher clickthrough.

The intags aren't part of your content at all so to me look much less intrusive. Remind me of adsense one to 3 word ads appart from they pop up an ad when you hover the mouse over it.

In conclusion I personally don't like the look of intext ads or infolinks search ad unit.

The intag is genius in my opinion and I think a lot of other ad networks will copy infolinks on this one.

Hi Comodo, this is Pamela from Infolinks. If you'd like to try Infolinks ad units you can choose whichever products you like and mix and match as you please. If InText ads aren't your thing, you can choose to display just InTag or combine it with another ad unit. Feel free to try InText ads on your site and remove them if it doesn't go well. Whatever works best for you is the goal. Good luck!

The only time I've actually clicked on an intext ad is from a misclick.

I would imagine it's how most people land on an advertiser's website.

I agree, from experience most clicks coming from in-text ads are from mis-clicks.

infolinks is good. its cheap and depending on where you send that traffic you can make serious cash. just it out. to know for sure. you dont need to invest $500. just $25 minimum. you wont ever really know til you try it yourself. dont be afraid to make mistakes.
