help a newbie

Hi,
I am just starting to get into all this SEO stuff, and what I've seen until now seems to make this field pretty interesting.
Now, I have read all about Seo techniques and procedures, but I haven't started any projects yet. I could really use some help, and some advices, so that I don't go into this head first. Where should I start, which tools are best, and so on. I have only created this post because there are so many forums and sites out there with Seo informations, and it's all pretty confusing.

I guess, my first serious dillema, is, for example I have found this project on a freelancer site, that specifies that no blogs, directories, articles, press releases are allowed, and also the target site has to have 20 outbound links, at the most. How do I create links, when I find myself in this situation?

Again, I would really appreciate some useful advice, and not just mean comments.

    There's a number of other methods to get links...However, it looks like the person that submitted the project is looking for links on other sites, which makes it tougher.

    You'll need to contact webmasters of similar themed sites and ask for a link. Only a small percentage will actually do it, so this will require quite a bit of effort.

    You can also post in the various link exchange resources. This forum has a link exchange, but you'll likely run into the 20 outoing link limit.

    Or, you can find some free/cheap hosting on various servers/IPs and build a small network of sites. Or pay webmaster for links, but you must be discrete about it and not let google know.

    Acombo of the above may work...

    Personally, I would skip that project as being too restrictive.

      Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it.
      I was already thinking of building a network of sites to use for top clients, but would be the best option. Are blogs the best option, or maybe stand-alone sites? And should I keep these adsense free?

        I am not rejecting any ideas whatsoever. That was just a dilemma of mine, which you cleared out, and thank you for that. But, like I said, I'm really just starting, and while I am not waiting for someone to give me a step-by-step on how to make millions, I would really appreciate some tips on how to actually start.

        I have done research, and I know pretty much everything there is to know about the link building process and its rules, but I don't want to rush it. I started this thread hoping to get a few more good advices on how to get started, from experienced professionals like yourself, as to what I should be aware of, to lower my chances of failing on my first project

    There are probably many ways to get the links. There are great sites giving loads of info on SEOs. Try looking for those. I hope that solves ur query. Thank You.
