BAD MOVE. It should be exactly 4.008232% for micro niche and 5.9238% for authority sites.

And upon obtaining these percentages you should sacrifice 1 goat and 3 chickens while wearing a spedo at 3am in the winter morning.

Forget about keyword density and focus on the quality of your writing.

If you NEED to have a number, fine, keep it as close to 1% as possible.

Keywords density is about how much percent you optimize your page/content for your keywords. SEO/back link is what you need to rank.

The BEST keyword density Is 77%, and I'm pretty sure everyone with SEO knowledge will agree with me on that one.

But on a real note, I keep mine around 1%-2%. Not sure how much that Impacts anything, but I don't like to spam the keywords everywhere.

there other factors that determine #1 ranking beside keyword optimization. you need to do all SEO activities involved in order to get high ranking.

4% keyword density ain't bad for 500 words post as SEO is concerned.

Try giving the articles a natural flow with quality info. Another way is to fill the article with LSI (latent semantic indexing).

I use the keyword I'm going for in the title and that's about as far as I purposefully use it. I try to use it within the first or last paragraph, but sometimes that just doesn't flow organically so I don't push it.

Penguin was almost entirely off-page (Panda was the on-page update).

With that being said, I do not worry about keyword density with SEO. Google wants "natural" looking sites, so I do not aim for a specific number. I just make sure the keyword is included at least a couple times on the page, and don't pay much attention to it beyond that.

Well I don;t think so after Penguin and Panda update, Google still follow same strategy as previously. So don't concentrate on keyword density but focus to make our site user friendly. As our site is useful and visits increased then automatically Google start giving weight age to our site.

In response to some answers, Google has not disclose a specific percentage for keyword density. When it comes to ranking, links or keyword diversity is not the only parameter for determining a rank. Do not forget that there is on-page optimisation. Although, rankings is about 90% off page, still look at your on-page factors to check if you have done something wrong that might trigger a Panda Penalty.

the best density is not to worry about density ;-) everything over optimized will make google throw you out so you better just mention your keyword naturally and i´d say no more than 2 times throughout the article. no need to anyway - google will find you if you are a good resource for the keyword

According to me 2-3 % is good for SEO point of view. If you are adding more than this Google may consider much keyword stuff for your website.... so try to keep it up to 2/3% for better result.

Just bring the percentage down to 1% to 2% keyword density and then try to insert LSIs into your content. Also, prioritize creating good and informative content. That is how you can rank for page one in SERPs.

Keyword Density percentage is different in different search engine according to their guidelines, but according to Google algorithms or guidelines 3% to 7% keyword density can use in content of website, using more than this percentage of keyword density will consider as a keyword stuffing in Google.

Nice insights here. KWD is an integral part in SEO, among many others. 5% is high. If you seem to be overstuffing, you will never rank. 3% is okay, you could go as low as 1.5%. Make sure you get other SEO techniques right. They include proper KW research (make sure your niche is right), build your links, among others. Your initial setup also matters - your website (name and url). It will make your site to be crawled and ua KWs to be found.

Your article should have flow(write for audience not for the search engines)
Common practice is to keep density b/w 3 - 4 %
You should use H1 tag for your main keyword (only once)
and then
Get quality Relevant backlinks constantly for your targeted keyword and sooner you will see improvements in ranking

If you want your website on page 1 of Google look into backlinks rather than keyword density.

What an enjoyable read! Hee hee! Don't think about keyword density - its taking up too much of your time thinking about it! Just write your content in a natural way as you would if you were talking to a friend. Its natural content that google wants. If your content is aimed at the subject you are talking about then you will be fine.

First of all, a 4.0% keyword density is too high. Ideal keyword density falls between 1.5-2%, and should not be greater than 3%. In order to rank well, you need to have good on page optimization and high quality backlinks pointing to your site.
