How many article site's you use?

You should have list of 5 high PR and do follow articl sites. Post articles on them randomly to get maximum benefit.

If you are aiming of making your site to be in the first page of Google, you should mixed all your backlinks from different sources not just from article directories and web 2.0 sites.

I personally only use about 5. I have tested over the years all article sites and have found that only 5 work the best. These 5 automatically add my articles now that I have become a prominent author and they are all do follow. I can submit as many as I want in a given day and get good backlinks. It works out pretty well-although I dont get much traffic.

what are this 5 sites?
and are you using unique articles or spun?

I use these six most of the time, but I also mix it in with a few guest posts, and web 2.0 submissions.

I'm surprised no one has even asked the OP what his purpose is for the articles. If you're asking about how many article sites to post to, it would be helpful to know why you are posting to article sites.

Is it for backlinks, direct traffic, sydication?

I use both nofollow and dofollow article directories as I have to build natural links these days.

And of course go for top article directories, others are not too helpful these days.

I use (for my clients) two article directories in particular. Ezine and Sooper Articles. I had also ArticleBase on the list but they seem not reliable now or at least I am not submitting articles there.
