How to get 10k Unique Visitors to a Fashion Blog having 750 articles

The blog is currently averaging about 3000 unique visitors per day. But the client wants a strategy to cross 10,000 mark. Other stats are as follows:

1. Page Rank: 4
2. Organic traffic 70% (average of the past 6 months)
3. Direct traffic: 14%
4. Referrals: 15% (traffic comes from, Feedburner, Facebook and Pinterest and a couple of other blogs and forums)
5. The blog is 2 year old and has been unaffected of Panda/Penguin updates.
6. Feedburner Subscribers: 1200
7. Update frequency: Daily

Most of the blogs have been written on how to and tips, so they are relevant searches for any time of the year.

She wants me to create a strategy to cross 10,000 mark..It seems her blog is stuck and not going beyond the average. She doesn't have much money to invest...She works with her husband and they are ready to put in time.

I will appreciate your suggestions.

At an average, she has been posting about 2.7 articles per day...She can post 5 per day if she finds the blog to stop being stagnant

Make it 5 times daily. That's all.

Can't guarantee that they will only get 10,000 daily...
So they might need new hosting. But that's an easy problem to solve then.

    1) Firstly do some On site SEO (such as meta tags)

    2) Have social bookmark buttons at the end of the posts/articles if not already there.

    3) Make good and well informed posts in related forums and have link in the signature

    4) Guest posting on related blogs witha link back to the site (powerful way of driving well targeted visitors)

    5) Do a bit of article marketing where you write articles and then have them submitted to sites like EZineArticles. Don't both with other general article directories. Niche ones in fashion with good traffic will be even better than EZineArticles.

Most importantly, write more content on your site.

Other options are paid ones like buying banner ads on fashion sites/blogs.

I total agree with hpgoodboy. More content = more traffic.

Also syndicate your content as much as you can. Here is a link to my reply to similar thread about traffic. I think you will find it helpful.

      I disagree.

Content quantity isn't the key, never has been, never will be.

      Content quality is another thing.

Many confuse "content quality" with quality of writing, good prose, good grammar etc. That's not it. Content quality is that which is on-topic and reinforces a site's profile.

If you have a fashion site and post about all sorts of fashion (with numerous outgoing links to all sorts of fashion) you are watering the booze.

Go back and check stats on what articles / topics generate most traffic. Only generate new content on related topics.

First though, you need to convince your client it will take time.

Video marketing and pinterest should bring in some traffic for this niche. Will she consider paid advertising like PPC and banner ads? Does she have an email list? I'd convince her to get one ASAP if not.

Are at least 10% of her articles going towards guest blogging? They should.

Create batches of articles that interlink well..Such as a series on a subject (Part I, Part II, ...). Use "related posts" and breadcrumbs....Cover every major subject in the fashion industry: reviews, fashion shows, celebrity fashion...for example....Then make sure posts interlink in a way to enhance user experience.

Create five 2-5 minute videos daily.
Submit all new material to 4-5 major social media sites.

Also be proactive with twitter...I find it's easier to get twitter followers by following others in niche..Easier than facebook...Facebook followers will come only via natural methods.

    Upload videos on youtube.
Upload pdf's to pdf sharing sites.
Guest post. At least on a 1:1 ratio. This is the single most powerful backlinking source out there.
Use social signals. FB likes, tweets, G+1, social bookmarks, manual blog comments, manual forum posts, etc.

To guest post, did you mean asking people to guest post on your blog or you contributing to others' blogs?

I am going to 2nd Pinterest. The question is how many pins do they currently have?

To give you an idea I recently started a Origami site and within 14 days have 1000 pins. I got 200 referrals from Pinterest last week. And that's again after 14 days. Fashion I am sure would be a tone easier! Therre are a few good WSO's on Pinterest, get any one and its worth the few dollars!

Start with Google News, see what's trending.

    Write about said trends.

Once the Googles picks up on it, go back and analyse your analytics...you will see what Google loves.

    Write more content.

    Rinse and repeat.

I will say after reading this last night, this has got me thinking. This is 3000 visitors a day, 21,000 a week, 80,000 a month. we are talking close to 1,000,000 visitors a year. To be honest the largest volume website I have worked on was like 100,000 visitors a year. The numbers are kinda staggering actually.

You don't need to write MORE... I just don't think the other posters here understand this is a "Super Site" but you want more. And by golly good for you ( them )!

To get where you/they are at right now I am thinking someone understands keywords and the like. I would go into analytics and see where the bulk of the traffic is coming from. You want to target those pages that are listed 3 through 10 or less. Any and every one of these you can get to a 1 or 2 listing is a potential 180% increase in that ONE keyword.

In other words these lower page rankings are basically "Traffic left on the table". Bringing the 10 40 100 200 keywords that are lacking into 1st and 2nd rankings will be a HUGE boost in your potential visitor volume.

I am going to agree with KoreanCowboy and say that if you haven't, you need to start jumping into Google News. I personally have read a little about it, but have not really looked at the process. I would submit new content for sure, but I might drag some of your older stuff up and submit as well.

You/They are obviously not doing anything wrong, its just determining what has/is being done right, and bringing the rest up to the same level.

Other than that it is hard to "help" based on the fact that I am not seeing what it is you are working with. It could be that you are so "Niched" that there simply is no more traffic, and the answer would be to expand the niche. It could be that you have targeted a specific demographic and need to broaden that. There are simply so many variables here it is hard to pinpoint, where the block to more is.

I do wish you the best of luck. Finding "More" traffic is always harder than just finding traffic! If you would like further help you can PM me and Id be more than happy to give the site a look over and make some more pointed suggestions.

    Hope that Helps!

Outsource more articles in different page rank article directories for seo purposes and add more to all your existing databases for more traffic with thier networks. Submit lots of ezinearticles with different anchor text backlinks to your main site. All about the numbers. Start off with around 20 or so articles and slowly climb from there....

Maybe I have low expectations, but if the site owner is currently experiencing 1 million unique visitors per year (3000/day), that's pretty damn good. The site owner now wants to get to 3 million+ unique visitors per year. Sure, there are sites that do that traffic. But that's pretty damn good. Part of SEO is managing expectations ("I need to rank #1 in two weeks!"). Hopefully you have let this person know that her expectations won't be easy to reach and will take time and money to do.

OP, there's no need to post more than twice a day, space it out every twelve hours. That's 60 new pages per month.

I would consider Feedburner as direct traffic considering the traffic would have to visit the site in order to subscribe. With 3K daily traffic that Feedburner email list is small, overhaul the optin form/placement back on the site/s.

I would go after the easy SERP traffic first. If the client already has ranked pages re-target those same old keywords with new pages optimized for the same exact keywords that currently deliver traffic, rank multiple pages for those same keywords with different/similar page titles to help draw in more traffic (higher CTR). It's a fashion blog, optimize all images, people are searching Google Images (it's a visual niche).

Optimize for video (look up Yoast video plugin), get your clients self hosted video thumbnails in Google organic SERPs, it draws in traffic on SERP pages dominated by text only SERP listings. DO NOT rank Youtube videos or other 3rd party video sites for your clients keywords in Google SERPs, If you want to also target Youtube Traffic use different keywords, that way your self hosted video thumbnail images will deliver traffic directly to the clients web page.

Referral traffic is very low (15%), need to work on that. Get active on same niche forums (don't spam), build up a strong rep. as the go to person for a sub-niche of the fashion niche (ex: shoes, makeup, weddings, etc...). It's easier to be an authority for a sub-niche than an entire niche.

Another option that I use is feeder sites. Build out smaller feeder sites also targeting your clients best traffic keywords. Own the the first page of Google SERPs for your keywords, piggyback off the main sites existing authority to help rank the feeder sites/pages. Don't spam it out, place links to the feeder sites on 100% relevant pages back on the main site. It only takes a few links from an authority site to boost a feeder site for same/similar keywords. Example, main site is all about weddings, the feeder site is a sub-niche of the main site (ex: honeymoon vacations). The word honeymoon would also be on the main site (multiple pages), it's a wedding related keyword.

There is quite easy way. Post 5-10 times to your Facebook page. You are already good at content creation, so you just extend that skill. As well, content for FB is much easier to make. Mostly it consists of memes, jokes, news etc. Google thrusts traffic from FB.
